Frequently Asked Questions
Can I organize a fundraising event at my home?
Absolutely! We have volunteers who spare their time to create and donate items to sell such as jewelry, artwork and food either at our fundraising events or online. We can offer volunteer hours for any students interested in participating with us. If you have any further questions on how to donate items, please contact us.
What are the key issues or challenges faced that DEAFs Inc seeks to address?
Our team was established with the same concerns that many of our deaf members experience on a daily basis. By recognizing the abundance of limitations throughout the southwest region, we hope to spread awareness of the obstacles many deaf individuals face such as finding connections with others, limitations to medical resources and systemic challenges with current policies in place.
How much of my donation directly supports the cause?
100% of the proceeds will go directly to this non-profit towards establishing charity fundraising events, hiring entertainment and professionals, providing transportation and hotel stays, maintaining our website/social media sites and more.
How does DEAFs Inc. involve the deaf and deaf-blind community in the organizations' decision-making process?
Our team finds that involving the Deaf community is not only fundamental but crucial to ensure that the organizations' work and mission aligns with their needs and aspirations. We apply strategies to effectively achieve meaningful community engagements such as recruiting deaf and deaf-blind staff and volunteers, establishing a deaf advisory committee, collaborate with other deaf organizations, provide accessibility and more.
What makes DEAFs Inc different than other organizations that provide similar services?
By offering inclusive and diverse strategies to our organization, we are unique in the sense that our main focus is to always make sure that we are constantly progressing with updated and quality current standards of care. As a non-profit focusing on helping the Deaf and Deaf-Blind community, we make sure that we are Deaf-led with qualified staff and volunteers who use American sigh-language as their main source of communication.
